KAV received an ALUTA Award of Excellence again

In the “Small project” (i.e. residential building) category KAV received the 2017 ALUTA Award of Excellence for the special facade of its Zugliget family home reference, for its engineering work and implementation.
At the members’ meeting of the professional association Károly Lovász, Managing Director of KAV, accepted the only quality recognition for Hungarian aluminium closing system and facade manufacturers, the ALUTA Award of Excellence, from Sándor Fegyverneky, the Chairman of ALUTA (the former chief architect of Hungary), member of the panel. The other panel member was György Stocker (DLA), and its Chairman Dr. József Finta (Artist of the Nation, an architect holding a Kossuth Prize).

More about the ALUTA association
It is a professional and interest representation group established to implement the common interests of the member companies of the Aluminium Window and Facade Association. Only companies that consider the quality of production and products as an inevitable basic requirement in the implementation of their market strategy will thus become a holder of the ALUTA trademark. By using its technical and intellectual knowledge base, the association provides community services to its members, and represents them in the European association called FAECF (Federation of European Window and Curtain Walling Manufacturers Associations) and in the Hungarian Standards Institution. Rebirth of a Bauhaus villa
This year, the Bauhaus is 100 years old, and it is a great pleasure for us to take part in the renovation of a property displaying the marks of this school. When the Bauhaus appears as a description of a building, it is a guarantee of clean shapes, exciting spaces and quality materials. Even so, it is important to point out that although several Hungarian architects were in contact with the famous German school, there are hardly any Bauhaus buildings, in the strict sense, in Budapest. Facade structures for full transparency
Curtain walls connect several large glass surfaces into a single structure, many times in an invisible manner. Initially these elements were exclusively used in communal building technology but, with the penetration of the minimalistic style, it also appeared in the family home segment. We build for the future rather than for today
Clear shapes, large glass surfaces, spacious interior spaces and creative use of materials – these are the main features of the most predominant architectural style of our era, minimalistic design, in which interest is outstanding in Hungary. However, the number of really well designed and built minimalistic family homes is relatively low. The property our engineers consider as one of the best designed ones our company has met in recent years was built in Budapest. During the project we paid increased attention to the design of large, liberally designed glass surfaces, essential for creating open spaces. Frameless sliding door structures with an architect’s eye

Aluminium curtain wall with arches and large glass surfaces
The design was one of the biggest challenges in the production and installation of the aluminium doors and windows of the Reformed Kindergarten in Svábhegy, since more than 700 individual solid angles had to be calculated to create the aluminium curtain wall, which was not only a segmental arch, but also broken at the bottom and top edges.
